Strengths - This set of images in exhibition explore a production method I have also been experimenting with over christmas by using a red filter to hide certain elements of an image when viewed through the filter. Garcia has used the filter in the opposite way to when I used it, in my work the red filter acted as a decoded to reveal hidden messages in text, where as he is using it to actually create the hidden items. The bright yellow is really vivid which creates that shock factor that such a vivid colour can completely disappear and having the red filter hang down and refract light all over the gallery makes a really etherial atmosphere which adds to the whole experience.

Weaknesses - Each piece explore the red filter in very much the same way, I see this as more of a starting point, theres so many different things he could have tried doing with the filter aswell.

Zine of illustrations

Strengths - Really nice controlled colour palette. The use of coloured stock complements this really nicely as well, its hand stitched which makes things look and feel really special. It's produced by Duke press, everything they have made really captures this precious feeling, something to be treasured. This is almost like a juxtaposition because the illustrations themselves are so quick and almost throw-away. The print and production along really transform it into a precious object.

Weaknesses - I think that the different coloured stock thrown in is a really nice idea and it could have been explored more in depth.

I don't do a lot of work like this but these posters caught my eye as I think the illustration is just technically amazing, the layout on the taming light one is really interesting as well.
